Pope Francis’ coffin arrived at Santa Maria Maggiore’s Basilica, where the Pontiff asked to be buried on Saturday (26).
The basilica is in Rome, about 6 km from the Vatican. The Paparmobile passed among the faithful through the streets of Rome, allowing them to have a last glimpse of the coffin.
A group of poor and needy will be present in the steps that lead to the papal basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore to pay the last tribute to Pope Francis before the grave of the coffin.
The procession took the Pope’s body for several historical milestones, including the Roman Forum and the Colosseum.
Although the burial is not broadcast live, a prayer will be held outside the Basilica, which will be open to visitors from Sunday morning (27).
