Poll: 6% of US investors own bitcoins

According to a survey conducted by the analytical and consulting firm Gallup among US investors, the number of BTC owners has tripled since 2018.

The survey, which took place from June 22 to June 29 this year, included 1,037 American investors. 6% of respondents who invested $ 10,000 or more in stocks, bonds, or mutual funds said they own bitcoins, while in 2018 only 2% of those surveyed in this group invested in BTC.

At the same time, younger investors are much more likely to invest in bitcoin. Among those surveyed under the age of 50, 13% own bitcoin, while in 2018 this figure was only 3%. Accordingly, the older generation is much less likely to invest in BTC, although the figure has tripled here too – from 1% to 3%.

However, 58% of those surveyed said they do not plan to invest in bitcoin, although in 2018 this figure was 73%. Among other investments, the most popular are index and mutual funds, in which 84% of respondents invest. Another 67% have bought shares of individual companies, and half of the respondents own bonds.

“The 6% figure is more similar to the gold figure, which is owned by 11% of those surveyed,” the researchers note.

A recent survey by Fidelity Digital Assets showed that 90% of institutional investors plan to invest in cryptocurrencies by 2026.
