The two police officers caught putting a plastic bag over a woman’s head in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, were charged with torture, aggravated theft and threat.
The case occurred on January 1st, in the city located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.
The images show the violent approach to a woman.
According to a complaint from the Rio Grande do Sul Public Ministry, a man was also “handcuffed, placed on his knees, beaten and asphyxiated with a plastic bag over his head”.
The two victims, who have no criminal record, were in front of a bar with two friends.
The police arrived looking for drugs and entered the establishment with the victims. The door to the bar was closed, and the attacks began afterwards.
According to the MP’s complaint, when the man was almost passed out, the police placed the plastic bag on the woman’s head.
The accused realized they were being filmed and left the scene. The two left a gun and a ballistic vest on one of the tables and even took drinks and R$250 in cash from the bar.
Afterwards, the policemen returned to look for the objects and made threats saying “if the video leaks, you are dead”. The policemen have been arrested since January 4th.
In the complaint, the Public Prosecutor’s Office asks that the agents lose their position and that there be a ban on exercising the profession for twice the term of the sentences, in case of conviction.
