Two PMs were arrested on the morning of Tuesday (15), for obstruct criminal investigations and participation in militia that operates in the municipality of Santaluz, 278 km from Salvador.
Police were already investigated by ‘Operation Urtiga’, launched in June 2023, for crimes of homicide and criminal organization, but were arrested during ‘Operation safeguard’, jointly launched by the Bahia Public Prosecutor (MPBA), Public Security Secretariat and Military Police.
According to Civil Police, agents obstructed criminal investigations through physical aggression and threats. The MP pointed out that the reported police were chasing a witness to two homicides committed by them.
PC agent fulfilled the pre -trial detention warrants and four search and seizure in the municipalities of Santaluz and São Domingos. The warrants were issued by the 1st Military Audit Court of Salvador.
“MPBA’s complaint points out that, on February 25, 2024, the agents, in service, gave successive punches and kicks and threatened the victim of death after they withdrawn from their residence if she insisted on giving them testimonials to them to the police,” the PC said in a statement.
