Police officer accused of the death of young man accessing a funk dance party is arrested in Rio

A military police officer was preventively arrested this Monday (4), accused of being responsible for the death of saleswoman Rafaella Borda Vieira, aged 22, in June this year. The young woman was with four other people in a car in the Rio Comprido neighborhood, in the North Zone of Rio. The young people were on their way to a funk dance that was taking place in the Fallet community, in Santa Teresa, a neighborhood that gives access to the South and North zones .

According to investigations, the car Rafaella was in was approached by police officers who were in a vehicle. The driver allegedly fled, at which point shots were fired toward the vehicle. The young woman was hit. She was taken to the Souza Aguiar municipal hospital, in the Center, but did not survive.

The military police officers involved in the incident were interviewed by DH and twice denied being responsible for the shooting. However, investigations carried out by the specialist found that the agents made the approach and the accused PM was responsible for the shots. He was indicted for qualified homicide and the arrest warrant was issued by the 1st Criminal Court of the Capital District. The arrest was made by agents from the Capital Homicide Police Station with the support of the Military Judiciary Police Office.
