The Civil Police of Rio heard, this Friday (15), the woman who was filmed while suffering a rape during delivery by cesarean section, at Hospital da Mulher, in São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, last Sunday (10). ). Anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra appears in a video recorded by the medical team raping the woman. The victim’s husband also testified. According to Civil Police sources, the couple was heard at the family lawyer’s office by the delegate responsible for the case, Bárbara Lomba, and a policewoman.
The hearings were essential for the conclusion of the investigation, which should be carried out until next week, since Giovanni was arrested in the act. His prison was converted to preventive and he remains in an isolated cell in Bangu 8, in the Gericinó Complex, in the West Zone of the capital.
Also according to the police, Hospital da Mãe, in Mesquita, also in Baixada Fluminense, sent a list with the names of 44 women who were anesthetized by Giovanni in the last six months. Now investigators are working to find out if the man may have raped more patients.
This Friday, another possible victim of the anesthesiologist presented himself at the Police Station for Assistance to Women, in São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, where the case was registered. The woman would have arrived spontaneously after identifying Giovanni as the anesthesiologist for the surgery she performed on June 16.
The Public Ministry of the State of Rio denounced the doctor to Justice, this Friday, for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person. According to the complaint, the crimes in question were committed against a pregnant woman and in violation of the duty inherent to the profession of anesthesiologist. To preserve and protect the victim’s image, the MP requested secrecy in the process, in addition to compensation in favor of the victim, in an amount not less than 10 minimum wages, considering the moral damages caused to her.
CNN tries to locate the anesthesiologist’s defense. According to the State Department of Health, everything related to the case is being investigated through the investigation.
