Police investigate nursing technician for raping patient in SP hospital

A man is suspected of sexually abusing a woman who was hospitalized at Hospital São Luiz Anália Franco, part of Rede D’Or, in the east zone of São Paulo, on Friday (26).

The victim reported the case and filed a rape report at the 30th Police District of Tatuapé.

According to the state’s Public Security Department (SSP), images from the hospital’s internal security circuit were requested. A sexological examination was also requested for the victim.

In reply to CNN Rede D’Or, responsible for the hospital, reported that it became aware of the complaint this Saturday (27) and that it called the police to investigate the case. With the investigation, the hospital management stated that the employee, aged 45, has already been removed from his duties.

“The hospital also informs that it is fully collaborating with the authorities’ investigations and offering all support to the family and, above all, to the patient involved in the incident,” the note says.

According to the SSP, the police are continuing their investigations to clarify the facts. The department stated that the details of the incident will be kept confidential because it is a sexual crime. The crime of rape carries a sentence of between eight and 15 years in prison.
