Officers from the 16th Military Police Battalion of Olaria began an operation in 4 communities of Brás de Pina, north of Rio de Janeiro, on the morning of this Thursday (12). According to the State Secretariat of Military Police, the action aims to suppress vehicle cargo thefts in the region and prevent criminals from expanding their operations.
With the support of units subordinate to the 1st Area Policing Command (CPA) and the Special Operations Command (COE), agents are present in Vigário Geral, Pica Pau, Cidade Alta and 5 Bocas.
The incident is ongoing, but agents have already seized a rifle, narcotics and ammunition.
For the population that needs medical care, the Family Clinics (CF) Heitor dos Prazeres, Joãosinho Trinta and the Municipal Health Centers (CMS) Iraci Lopes and José Breves dos Santos are open and operating normally. Only external activities have been suspended.
On the other hand, 15 municipal schools were impacted. According to the municipal education department, in the communities of Cinco Bocas and Pica-pau, 3 schools are closed; in Parada de Lucas and Vigário Geral there are 4 schools and in Cidade Alta 8 schools are also closed.
