PM rescues app driver held hostage in Olinda (PE)

A ride-hailing app driver, who was taken hostage during a robbery in the Ouro Preto neighborhood, in Olinda, in Greater Recife, ended up being rescued by military police officers from the 1st Military Police Battalion (BPM). The incident occurred on Monday (16).

The force was activated via radio while on the move and informed about the crime in progress.

During the incident, the suspect was threatening the driver with a fake firearm. Upon noticing the police arriving, the hostage reacted and began a physical fight with the assailant.

The police team acted and managed to immobilize the suspect, releasing the driver.

The man, who already had an open arrest warrant, was arrested and taken to the Varadouro Police Station, in Olinda, where he was booked and must remain at the disposal of the Justice Department.
