Lawyer Mauro da Costa Ribas Junior, 48, was driving his car in the Quintais do Imperador neighborhood, in Sorocaba (SP), when he was attacked by firearm shots On Saturday night (1).

The lawyer was found inside the vehicle with face injuries caused by splinters of glass. Near the place where the victim stopped the vehicle, the expert seized two firearm ammunition cases and a projectile.
Mauro was referred to the Sorocaba Adib Domingos Jatene Regional Hospital, where he received first aid. After the service, the man was taken to the Unimed Private Hospital by a vehicle of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).
The lawyer was medicated, filed a police report at the police station and recovered from the attack. “I don’t know how any shot took me directly,” Mauro told the CNN .
The Civil Police investigates the case as they tried to murder. The vehicle was inspected and the police are looking for security cameras images to clarify the crime.
The 24th Subsection of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-Sorocaba) published a note of repudiation of the attack suffered by the lawyer. “This act of violence not only undermines the life and integrity of a colleague, but also a threat to class and society as a whole,” the note said.
The note also says that the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) does not tolerate any form of intimidation, threat or violation of lawyers’ rights “guaranteeing assistance and assistance to those who are prevented from practicing their profession with freedom and security.”
