The General Comptroller of Discipline (CGD) of the State of Ceará determined the resignation of the soldier of the Military Police Iury Bonfim Ribeiro, accused of supporting a robbery and traveling with a stolen vehicle in Fortaleza. The decision was published in the State Official Gazette this Monday (14).
According to CGD, on January 22, 2022, soldier Iury Bonfim was in a Jeep used as support for individuals who committed a robbery in front of a bakery in the Fatima neighborhood of Ceará. At the time, the suspects managed to escape.
Three days after the crime, the policeman was arrested to be caught driving the same vehicle used in the robbery, which circulated with cloned plates. Police found that the car had been stolen in the Montese neighborhood on January 17 of that year.
The Comptroller established a discipline council, according to publication in Official Gazette No. 10, of January 15, 2024, to investigate the conduct of the military. The procedure concluded that the soldier has committed serious disciplinary transgressions, including the crime of willful reception, violating expected ethical rules and commitments of a military police officer.
In the decision, the CGD pointed out that the evidence was sufficient to prove the disciplinary offenses attributed to the soldier. “It was evident that the advisable not only violated the law, but also compromised the image and credibility of the corporation before the community that he vowed to protect and serve,” the agency said in the official order.
With this, the Comptroller considered Iury Bonfim Ribeiro unable to stay in the staff of the Ceará Military Police, formalizing his resignation.
The soldier may still appeal the decision. THE CNN It did not find the defense of Iury Bonfim until the publication of this article.
