The spokeswoman for the São Paulo Military Police (PM-SP), Colonel Daniela Pollete, confirmed, in an interview with CNN this Monday (7), that the corporation has already sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office the images of the body cameras of the agents involved in Operation Escudo, in Baixada Santista.
The operation began on the 28th, after the death of soldier Patrick Bastos Reis, 30 years old, a member of Rondas Ostensivas Tobias Aguiar (Rota), while on patrol in Guarujá, in Baixada Santista. In all, 16 people died and 181 were arrested until Sunday (6).
“All the digital evidence captured in all occurrences of Operation Escudo has already been made available to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and we are complying with all requests from the Public Prosecutor’s Office”, said Pollete.
The spokeswoman explained that not all police officers who worked in the operation were equipped with cameras.
“About 52% of the units today have body cameras and the entire state staff is being committed to a stopover system on the coast. Some of these officers are not using cameras because their unit has not been contemplated,” he explained.
The Military Police (PM) seized 495 kilos of drugs since the beginning of the operation. Others 22 Weapons were also seized.
The Civil Police indicted three involved in the PM’s death for the crimes of homicide, attempted homicide and association with drug trafficking. A second police officer was also injured in the incident that killed soldier Patrick Reis.
