O Playstation 5 released in November 2020, reached the milestone of 40 million consoles sold by July 16, 2023.
The statement made by CEO Jim Ryan, posted on the Sony Interactive Entertainment website, thanks the community and remembers efforts during the pandemic.
“Despite the unprecedented challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, our teams and partners worked carefully to deliver PS5 on time. We continued to face adversity with the pandemic and it took a few months for supplies to normalize and we were able to normalize inventory to meet demand.
For more months than we care to remember, we’ve continued to thank our community for their patience as we worked on this issue. But now the PS5 supply is well stocked and we are seeing that pent-up demand finally being met.”
The text also says that the PS5 has the “best catalog of games in our history and the momentum for great content is growing stronger. From groundbreaking indie games to AAA blockbusters, there are over 2,500 PS5 games available today, and there’s never been a better time to try PS5. In the last two months alone, we’ve seen incredible releases from our partners, including Final Fantasy XVI, Diablo IV and Street Fighter 6.”
In addition, the PlayStation blog brought the 40 best games for the PS5 in the opinion of the players, who participated in the vote.
