Plane crashes with drugs on indigenous land after FAB interception

A twin -engine aircraft from Peru was intercepted by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) on Sunday morning (13), after entering without authorization in the national airspace. The operation resulted in the arrest of two Bolivians and the seizure of narcotics in the region of the border between the states of Mato Grosso and Pará.

The crime was discovered by FAB Super Toucan fighters, in an action coordinated by the Aerospace Operations Command (Comae), with support from the Federal Police (PF) and the Special Border Group (Gefron), linked to the Military Police of the State of Mato Grosso.

The Seneca and PT-RBC prefix twin-engine was detected around 9am by the fourth air defense and air traffic control (Cindacta IV) radars after crossing the Peru border towards the Brazilian territory.

Following the airspace policing protocols, FAB pilots performed distance recognition maneuvers and interrogation of the aircraft.

Given the absence of response and insistence on irregular behavior, the change of route was ordered. The plane descended and collided with the ground in a remote area near the São Manoel River, on the border between the states of Mato Grosso and Pará.

Shortly after the fall, a FAB H-60 Black Hawk helicopter was sent to transport Federal Police officers to the site, where so-called soil control measures (MCS) were performed.

In addition to arrests, several packages with a marijuana -like substance were found near the aircraft.

The blatant occurred near the Ariramba village, in an area that is difficult to reach.

The suspects and seized material were taken to the city of Alta Floresta (MT), where they remain in the custody of the authorities.

The operation is part of Operation Ostium, part of the Integrated Border Protection Program (PPIF), aimed at combating illicit activities in the border regions of the country.

The program brings together FAB efforts and public safety agencies to ensure the integrity of Brazilian airspace and combat transnational drug and weapons trafficking.
