The bill that provided for a 15% tax on corn exports until December 31, 2022 was withdrawn from the Chamber on Wednesday (2). The proposal was criticized by several entities in the country’s agribusiness sector.
According to the author of the article, Soraya Manato (PSL-ES), the objective was to ensure the supply of grain in the domestic market. Also according to the measure, the federal government would have the autonomy to change the rate by up to 10 percentage points.
After the filing, the deputy told the CNN Brazil that will build a new proposal aligned with the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy and with Espírito Santo producers “so that a project is presented that is more favorable to all Brazilian agriculture and that does not harm the principles of economic freedom”.
“I have a clean, transparent, upstanding mandate and I am at the disposal of the agro sector and the Bolsonaro government to close a proposal that is satisfactory to everyone,” added the deputy, who claimed to have received attacks after the presentation of the measure.
