Pfizer confirms start of delivery of childhood vaccines on week 10

The vaccine producer Pfizer confirmed, on Wednesday (5), that the doses of immunizing against Covid-19 specific for children between 5 and 11 years will be delivered from the week of January 10th.

In a statement, the drugmaker says 20 million doses will be delivered in the first quarter of this year.

According to Pfizer, the vaccine showed 90.7% efficacy in a clinical study developed specifically for the pediatric age group, from 5 to 11 years old.

Phase 2 and 3 trials were performed in 2,268 children in the United States, Finland, Poland and Spain, and showed robust antibody production responses, in addition to a favorable safety profile.

The vaccine for children in this age group was approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) on December 16, 2021.

This immunizing agent will be delivered with an orange label and cap, different from the dose for adults, which has a purple color.
