The Federal Police seized BRL 270,000 in cash at the office of lawyer Ravik Bello Ribeiro, in São Luís (MA). He is the son of judge Cândido Ribeiro, former president of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF-1).
The two are the target of an investigation into the alleged sale of court sentences to benefit drug traffickers.
According to the PF, this Tuesday (14) nine search and seizure warrants were served in Brasília, seven in Belo Horizonte (MG) and one in São Luís (MA). The actions are part of Operation “Habeas Pater”, which investigates possible crimes of active and passive corruption.
The warrants were issued by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) against Cândido Ribeiro and Bello Ribeiro.
The police are also investigating their involvement in the Flight Level II operation, which targets a group of international traffickers.
A CNN sought the TRF-1 and was informed that there will be no manifestation on the case. The report also contacted the investigated lawyer, but did not receive a response.
