PF Mira illegal mining in a preservation area in the Amazon

The Federal Police carried out Operation Murus Viridis for the removal of illegal mining at the Amazonian Campos National Park. The conservation area is between the states of Amazonas, Rondônia and Mato Grosso. The action was carried out with the support of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation and the National Public Security Force.

The action render six hydraulic excavators, three trucks, nine bombs, three motorcycles and six separating boxes. Eight thousand liters of diesel oil were also seized. 16 mining barracks were demobilized.

According to the Federal Police, the operation aims to disenture the structures used for illegal mining and the repression of environmental crimes.

During the action, the Federal Police gathered intelligence and information to establish an investigation to identify leaders and financiers of illicit activity and their connections with organized crime.

The intention is to interrupt the logistics and financial chain of illegal mining in the legal Amazon, weakening criminal organizations operating in the region.
