PF investigates public agents for facilitating millionaire thefts to Caixa

The Federal Police (PF) launched, on the morning of Friday (25), an operation to dismantle a criminal organization originating from Santa Catarina suspected of causing millionaire losses to Caixa Econômica Federal through the ATM Burrowing in cities in the interior of Piauí and in other states.

Two pre -trial detention warrants, one of temporary arrest and three search and seizure in the cities of Teresina and Altos (PI), issued by the 1st Federal Criminal Court of the State.


According to the PF, among the investigated there are public agents who would have passed on privileged information to the group, facilitating the execution of crimes.

The organization used electrical tools and cutting instruments to violate self -service terminals and subtract large amounts in cash. At least five criminal actions in the state have already been confirmed.

The operation Subversive It is an offshoot of Operation Low walls, performed about 45 days ago. At the time, two suspects were arrested when planning ATM attacks during Carnival in Altos and other cities in the Teresina Metropolitan Region.

This Friday’s action was supported by the Special Operations Battalion (Bope) and the Piauí Military Police Office. Those involved may be responsible for qualified theft by breaking, criminal association, passive corruption and other crimes that are still under calculation.

In a note released to CNN Caixa Econômica said it acts together with public security agencies in investigations and operations to repress the performance of criminals.

“Such information is considered confidential and passed on exclusively to the Federal Police and other competent bodies, for analysis and investigation.”
