The Federal Police (PF), which is the Union’s judicial police, currently has 50,563 investigations underway. A dashboard was made available online with the data this Monday (22).
Of the total number of investigations, 7,320 are under the famous article 171 (fraud), which, in paragraph 3, states: “the penalty is increased by one third if the crime is committed to the detriment of a public law entity or an institute of popular economy, social assistance or charity”. Fraud against the elderly or vulnerable, for example.
The second most investigated crime at the moment, with 3,303 inquiries, refers to article 304, which is “making use of any of the falsified or altered documents, referred to in articles 297 to 302: falsification of a public document and false certificate, respectively”.
In third place is the crime of ideological falsehood (art. 299 of the Penal Code), with 3,041 investigations.
Of the 50,563 individual cases, the majority (18,764) were at the request of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF). Another 9,901 came from the PF itself to open an investigation.
The panel also details the states with the most inquiries: São Paulo has 5,534, Rio de Janeiro 3,321, Minas Gerais 1,675, Ceará 1,441 and the Federal District with 1,153 inquiries.
According to the PF, the panel will be updated daily to keep the information up to date. When investigations are completed, they are removed from the system, which changes the numbers.
