The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, announced on Thursday night (18), the arrest of another suspect involved in the murders of indigenous man Bruno Pereira and British journalist Dom Phillips.
According to the Federal Police, the prisoner is the main accomplice of the person behind the murders committed on June 5, 2022, in an ambush in the region of the Vale do Javari Indigenous Land, in the area of the municipality of Atalaia do Norte/AM.
The PF also reported that the prisoner is from the same organization as the man who ordered the deaths of the victims and that the arrest warrant issued by the 1st Criminal Court of Tabatinga/AM was carried out this afternoon.
The suspect was known to be the informant and ally of the person behind the homicides of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, the PF said in a statement. “The investigation investigating the double homicide has already identified the executors, the mastermind and others involved in the criminal scheme”, added the PF.
The person responsible for the murders, according to the PF, was identified as Ruben Dario da Silva Villar, from Colombia. He is identified as one of the leaders of an armed organization that operates illegal fishing in the region and is already serving a sentence in Manaus.
