An employee at the service of GranIHC Services died this Tuesday (2) in an accident on the P-19 platform of the Petrobrasin the Campos Basin (RJ).
The Unique Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) reported in a statement that Patric Carlos, 37, was working as a boilermaker when there was a shot of CO2 in the motor-generator – a closed place – together with another worker. Carlos was unable to leave the room with inert gas and died on the spot, the entity said.
THE Petrobras confirmed the events in a note and stated that the service provider “was attended immediately by the medical team on board, but unfortunately he did not survive”. The state-owned company stressed that it is providing support to the victim’s family members.
According to the company, the other employee who was also at the scene received medical attention and is doing well.
“THE Petrobras established a commission to investigate the causes of the accident and informed the authorities,” the company said in the statement.
The FUP recalled that this is the third fatal accident in 2022 at facilities of the Petrobras.
In February, a worker died during work carried out in a confined space at the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), in Rio de Janeiro. In March, there was a fatal accident in a helicopter hired by Petrobrasin Camamu Bay, Bahia.
