The chairman of Petrobras’ Board of Directors, Márcio Weber, told CNN which will convene an extraordinary meeting for Monday (27) to evaluate Caio Paes de Andrade. The scheduled time is 11 am, but it will still be confirmed and communicated to the counselors.
If the name of Caio Paes de Andrade is approved, it means that his inauguration can already take place on Monday afternoon. The rite is similar to that of José Mauro Coelho, who resigned last Monday (20). The difference is that in the case of Andrade, the name was not endorsed by the shareholders via the Assembly, precisely because of the resignation.
Marcio Weber said he will await the opinion of the Eligibility Committee, which meets this Friday (24) at 4 pm. The tendency is for the three directors and two independent members of the collegiate to attest to Andrade’s eligibility, but to alert the Board of Directors about the findings of Petrobras’ Compliance department, which assessed that the nominee does not meet all legal requirements.
Committee members reported to the CNN that there is strong pressure for the process to be agile. If confirmed, Caio Mário Paes de Andrade will be the fourth president to take over Petrobras under the management of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The current Secretary of Debureaucratization of the Ministry of Economy must have as one of his first acts the reform at the highest level, exchanging directors held by his three predecessors.
