Peshkov: Russia has not asked China for military equipment

The Kremlin said today that Russia could take full control of major Ukrainian cities, noting that its country has enough military power to fulfill all its objectives in Ukraine without the need for Chinese assistance.

“The Russian Defense Ministry, ensuring the maximum possible security of the civilian population, does not rule out the possibility of bringing large cities under full control,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Peshkov said some of Ukraine’s largest cities had already been surrounded by Russian forces.

Asked by Reuters about statements by US officials claiming that Russia had requested military equipment from China, Peshkov was adamant in saying “no”.

“Russia has its own independent capabilities to continue the operation. As we have said, it is proceeding according to plan and will be completed on time and in full,” he said.
