In the United States, the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, shared detailed plans about a military operation against the Houthis in Yemen in a second group of signal application chat, which included his wife, lawyer and brother.
The information was confirmed to CNN by three people familiar with the group.
The revelation occurs as some of Hegseth’s closest advisers began to sound the alarm about the secretary’s trial, including his former press secretary John Ulylot and three former hegseth-fired employees last week.
“It was a month of total chaos in the Pentagon. From leaks of mass -sensitive operational plans, dysfunction is now a great distraction for the president – who deserves something better from his senior leadership,” Ullyot said in a statement obtained by CNN .
The second group in Signal adds to what Hegseth used to communicate with officials of Donald Trump’s government office last month on military plans, which are now under the internal investigation of the Department of Defense.
This second chat was created during the process of confirming Hegseth’s nomination to the position by the American Senate, as a form of the closest allies to elaborate strategies, said two people familiar with the matter.
Hegseth continued to use the chat, which was on his personal phone, to communicate with them after his confirmation in charge of the Pentagon, the sources said.
Similar to the first chat of the signal, which was publicly revealed by The Atlantic after its editor was included by mistake by the National Security Counselor Mike Waltz, the military plans Hegseth shared on the second chat of Signal were about attack plans against the sources, the sources said.
Hegseth’s brother Phil and his lawyer, Tim Parlatore, work in the Department of Defense. But his wife, Jennifer, no, although Hegseth includes her regularly at meetings with foreign leaders, including British Defense Secretary John Healey since the beginning of his term.
It is unclear whether all participants in Signal’s second chat have security authorization to be aware of the details of US military plans.
