Pedro Pascal about backstage climate in “The Last of Us”: “comforting”

Despite being immersed in a post-apocalyptic and dark scenario, the actor Pedro Pascal 50, revealed that the behind -the -scenes climate of the second season of the series “The Last of Us” he was “Incredibly comforting”. In an interview provided exclusively to CNN Joel’s interpreter comments on being back to the story and the attachment he has with the plot and the characters.

“It’s so special to be back,” reflects Pedro Pascal. “There are new people and old people and I think there is something really exciting in basically giving everyone another season of a series that everyone has loved and everyone worked so much and dedicated themselves so much.”

Joel is going through great moments this season – either at the present moment of the story, or in the flashbacks that will be shown throughout the episodes. The star also states that he clung to the character a lot.

“It’s hard for me to separate what my characters are going through and how it makes me feel, and in a way that is not very healthy. I kind of feel their pain, I suppose that, in a way, this is a sick mentality.”

One of the things he most identifies with the protagonist is the overprotective nature, even more outlined in season two,

“I am extremely protective with the people I love and this is probably the main thing I identify with in Joel.”

Regarding the power of this season’s narrative, he emphasizes that in the new episodes, there is “a healthy – and perhaps sick – pleasure – in the catharsis of seeing human relationships in crisis and suffering.”

Finally, he delivers the first scene he recorded, with Bella Ramsey, who gives life to Ellie.

“The first thing I was able to film was just Bella and I in such an intimate atmosphere. There is an incredibly painful distance between the two in the interpretation of the scene, but we can still be in the set, having fun and laughing,” he says.

The whole behind -the -scenes climate, even in the heavier scenes, is, according to him, “incredibly comforting.”

“This work definitely created a new chapter in my life in a deep way,” he concludes.

For the second year, Bella Hamsey and Pedro Pascal return to protagonism. The cast has new additions: Kaitlyn Denver (“Apple Vinegar”), Young Mazino (“Bullshit”), Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”), Isabela Merced (“Dora, The Adventurer”), Jeffrey Wright (“American Fiction”) and Tati Gabrielle (“You”).

The episodes are released on Sundays at 10 pm.
