Parliament member attacked in South Korea, says news agency

A member of the South Korean parliament from the ruling People's Power Party was rushed to hospital after being attacked on Thursday (25), Yonhap news agency reported, adding that her attacker was arrested at the local.

Other media outlets said lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin was hit in the head with an object by an unidentified assailant on a street in the upscale Gangnam neighborhood of the capital Seoul and was bleeding when she was taken to hospital.

His party and the Gangnam police station were not immediately available for comment.

The leader of South Korea's opposition Democratic Party, Lee Jae-myung, was stabbed in the neck with a knife in early January and underwent surgery to repair a lacerated blood vessel. Lee left the hospital eight days later.
