The folkloric festival of Parintins will end, this Monday (27), with the determination of the scores that will define the champion of 2022.
The decisions of the ten jurors will be announced at 2 pm, in a ceremony open to the public at the Bumbodromo of Ilha Tupinambarana, in Amazonas.
“This year we will receive the supporters of the oxen in the arena, each one on their side, safely”, informed the Secretary of Culture, Marcos Apolo Muniz, in a statement released to the press.
The secretary opens, at noon, the entrance gate of the allegories to the public. The organ’s team will perform the screening and will direct the fans inside the Bumbodromo.
The Champion, Vice-Champion, Galera Champion and Galera Vice-Champion trophies were made by the designer from Parintina, Fram Canto.
The pieces weigh around 35 kilos, are 90 centimeters high and were made from wood from forest management.
Remember the nights of performances
First night
More than 25 thousand people followed the performances of the oxen in the Bumbodromo in parintins, on Friday (24). The boi-bumbá Garantido opened the first night of 55th Parintins Folkloric Festival, celebrating the diversity of indigenous peoples.
The host Israel Paulain started the traditional red and white ox count, which has been taking place since the 1970s, remembering the victims of Covid-19 among them, Paulinho Farinha, one of the icons of the Festival.

In addition to defending the Amazon, Garantido also raised the banner of women’s empowerment, placing, for the first time, women tuxauas (village leaders) in the Bumbodromo arena.
According to the president of bumbá, Antonio Andrade, Garantido provided 120 allegory modules and around 2,000 players to tell the struggle of those who defend the Amazon.
Then it was the turn of the boi-bumbá Caprichoso who closed the show. With the theme “Amazônia Nossa Luta em Poesia”, the blue and white bumbá took to the arena a manifesto in defense of preservation.
In all, 1,500 participants took part in the presentation that brought innovations and technology into the arena to tell about the importance of indigenous peoples in protecting the Amazon.
One of the highlights of the presentation was the Tuparí indigenous ritual, which brought the shaman Erick Beltrão. The Parintinense – one of the debutants in the Folkloric Festival on the blue side – was one of the individual items most awaited by Caprichoso fans.

The ox of the star also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the indigenist Bruno Araújo and the British journalist Dom Phillips, who were killed in the Vale do Javari region at the beginning of the month. A flag with their images was displayed at Bumbodromo.
According to the Government of Amazonas, to put the oxen in the arena in 2022, the bumbás received R$ 5 million each. About 80,000 visitors are expected to pass through the island during the Festival and boost the local economy.
In the first few minutes, a giant allegory of Caprichoso brought the star of the blue party. Then, drone flights made the audience vibrate.
“We use technology to maintain our tradition. To better tell our stories. If we can make it fly in the arena, we’ll do it”, comments the president of Caprichoso’s art council, Erick Nakanomi .
Another highlight of the presentation was the Amazonian legend “The Rails of Death”, which interacted with the bluish crowd and impressed the audience with the narrative of the construction of the Madeira-Mamoré railway, in the early 19th century, in Rondônia. Railroad ghosts invaded the stands.
O Guaranteed ended the second night with the black spotlight in the northern region and the Cabanagem movement in the Grão-Pará region.
The typical regional figure, one of the mandatory items of the presentations, entered the arena with eight modules up to 18 meters high. Black protagonism was also represented by the toada lifter, Edilson Santana.
The singer Marcia Siqueira one of the lifters of the boi do povão, spoke of the emotion of paying homage to Afro culture and everything it represents for Brazil and the Amazon.
“Another emotional night. This edition of the Festival de Parintins, the festival of festivals, is a return to this much-loved, long-awaited party. All the influences that we have. An exciting night, with lots of axé, lots of light, he said.
Xandoré and Ticê, legends of the Tupi-Guarani ethnic group, entered the Bumbodromo with grandeur. The red and white ox told that Xandoré was the personification of hatred, envy and rancor, while Ticê was a powerful woman capable of deceiving evil spirits and protecting other women.
The toada, plywood called the songs on the bulls, composed by Ronaldo Barbosa Jr. asks the women to cry out to Ticê.
