Paramore cancels tour after Hayley Williams contracts lung infection: ‘Physically I can’t go on’

Paramore’s “This is Why” tour had to be cut short in the United States after lead singer Hayley Williams contracted a lung infection.

Through an official note published on her social networks, the singer informed her fans that the two remaining shows were cancelled. The presentations would be in Portland, this Thursday (10), and in Salt Lake City, on Sunday (13).

Williams explained that the band had postponed shows in late July in hopes that medication would allow them to wrap up the tour. This, however, did not happen.

“After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping that a week off from performing and a strict routine of medications would allow my body to heal enough to finish this tour strong. I’ve been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we don’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations. After struggling the last few shows and seeing my doctor, we are sadly realizing that he has passed the point of wanting to move on to putting on a good show for you all.”

The Paramore frontwoman also revealed that if she stayed with the tour, it could put her health at risk “in the long term”.

“We apologize to all of you who have been so patient with us as we reschedule these shows and who will likely rearrange travel plans to still attend,” he wrote. “Physically, I can’t go on. I know this is not great news for anyone. Thank you so much for your continued support.”

Finally, the note said that fans will be refunded.
