The Vatican released on Tuesday (22) the first images of Pope Francis lying in a wooden coffin at Casa Santa Marta residence in the Vatican.
Francisco died at the age of 88 of an irreversible stroke and heart failure, according to Vatican doctor Andrea Arcangeli, in a death certificate released on Monday (21).
The certificate, published by the Vatican, states that the Pope entered a coma before his death on Monday morning.
The Pope’s death was announced by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Vatican’s Camerlengo, this Monday.
“Dear brothers and sisters, it is with deep sadness that I communicate the death of our holy Father Francis,” said a statement from Camerlengo.
At 7:35 am this morning (local time), the bishop of Rome, Francisco, returned to the Father’s house. All his life was devoted to the service of the Lord and his church.
