A Panic! At the Disco is the band that makes the saddest fans in the world. The information comes from a survey carried out by Preply, an online language classes platform.
But this doesn’t mean that the band disappoints fans – but rather that the music is the one that causes a lot of emotions and ends up making fans feel a sadness that matches the lyrics or melody of some tracks. According to Sylvia Johnson, director of methodology at Preply, this is because “the songs evoke feelings of regret and the lyrics discuss melancholic moments that everyone can relate to, like a chapter in life coming to an end.”
In addition to the band led by Brendon Urie, Linkin Park and Metallica also appeared on the list as the groups that make fans the most sad with their music. My Chemical Romance, known for being one of the biggest emo bands in the world, appears in tenth position, tied with John Mayer and Avicii.
Already Ed Sheeran was chosen as the singer who has songs that make people happier. Next up is the band U2 and the K-pop group Blackpink. The three groups are pop music and end up using more upbeat beats in their songs.
For the research, more than 200,000 posts and comments were analyzed in communities on the Reddit forum by fans of 92 musicians and bands.
