It measures just 657 x 222 x 700 microns (one micron equals one thousandth of a millimetre) and has sold for over 63 thousand dollars in an online auction last Wednesday. Definitely not a little, for one handbag about the size of a grain of sand, barely visible to the human eye.
It is a fluorescent yellowish-green Lilliputian version of a OnTheGo Of Louis Vuitton (cult bag of the Parisian brand – which has nothing to do with the project – on sale, in its full-size version, for around 3/4 thousand euros), created by the now famous New York art collective MSCHFknown for having given life to a series of pseudo-artistic creations including the two-way sneaker, the Astro Boy boots, the Birkinstocks sandals made from the leather of 4 Hermès Birkin bags and the Satan Shoes, made in 666 pieces and containing a drop of real human blood.

The new and tiny Microscopic Handbag was made using two-photon polymerization, a manufacturing technology used for 3D printing microscale plastic parts, and was auctioned off by Joopiteran online auction house founded by the American musician, record producer and designer Pharrell Williams who happens to be the new creative director of menswear at Vuitton…) where it was awarded at the astronomical price (per cubic millimeter, its value is probably higher than that of a Picasso painting…).
The singer debuted in Paris with his first men’s collection for Louis Vuitton. To catch the attention are (also) his tiny yellow gold sunglasses studded with diamonds
Attached to the handbag, the lucky (?) buyer was also awarded a microscope equipped with a digital display through which it is possible to view it.
Given her well-known fondness for the much-fashioned microbags, you want to see that we’ll be admiring soon Lizzo on a red carpet, equipped with the precious miniature masterpiece?
