Ari Borovoy, Óscar Schwebel, Mariana Ochoa, Érika Zaba, Lidia Ávila, M’balia and Kalimba Marichal, members of OV7, have made their 30-year tour of the group a total success with sold-out performances, an audience that always sing their songs and an extraordinary chemistry between all of them.
However, the reality behind the scenes is completely different, since, apparently, there are both estrangements and creative conflicts between them, which is why they have decided to separate permanently.
The news was confirmed by Ari and Érika through an interview for Channel 13, in which they said that OV7’s 30-year tour began on September 1 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and will end in the spring of 2023, as the contract was extended due to the success of his presentations.
I am listening to what my colleagues say, after 34 years we are still saying unprecedented things (…) Our contract ended on April 30 and was extended to August. Now we talked about it a few days ago and it lasted until December because, fortunately, things have gone very well.
– Ari Borovoy
As the interview progressed, they were questioned about the rumors of conflicts between the members of the group, since it is said that they have not been able to smooth things over and do not even follow each other on social networks.
However, both singers evaded the issue and refocused on their latest performances.
At that time, Érika confirmed that they have reached an agreement for the total dissolution of the group. Although she left open the possibility of another reunion.
Is incredible. Speaking of how much more time the group has left, well, it’s over in December and it’s important to tell you that it’s the last time we’re going to be on stage together. Surely there will be a reunion when we are 50 years old, I hope to be whole, but for that there is still a long way to go.
– Erika Zaba
So far, no other OV7 member has spoken about the issue or mentioned the date of their last concert, but it is a fact that the group has decided to put an end to this chapter in the music scene.
