NATO performed exercises in the Black Sea, near the Romanian city of Constança, on Tuesday (8).
The training, called “Sea Shield 25” (Sea Shield 25 translated into Portuguese), were designed to strengthen collaboration between the naval, aerial and terrestrial forces.
The exercises include the defense of critical coastal infrastructure, ensuring the protection of maritime communication routes and providing support to amphibious operations.
The Romania Navy is the least modernized from the Armed Forces.
The country said it plans to increase defense spending to up to 2.5% of economic production this year, compared to just over 2.2% in 2024.
This value can gradually reach 3% of GDP within one or two years, said interim president Ilie Bolojan in February.
