Oslo City Hall raises the Palestinian flag in solidarity with the people of Gaza

The Oslo City Hall raised the Palestinian flag in solidarity with the people of Gaza today, international day of solidarity towards the Palestinian people celebrated since 1978 at the proposal of the United Nations General Assembly.

“When we know that more than 5,000 children have lost their lives, that is 275 school classes, it is natural to remember them,” the mayor of the Norwegian capital Ann Lindbe told AFPTV on the sidelines of the event that brought together a handful of pro-Palestinian activists.

“It is very important to stress that Oslo should be a city for everyone, where our small Jewish minority as well as those with Palestinian roots should feel safe, counted and included,” said Oslo’s mayor.

Asked by AFP to comment, Israel’s embassy in Norway responded that it “has no problem” with demonstrations of solidarity with the Palestinians.
