Fitzo was shot four times in an assassination attempt in mid-May, while Trump, the Republican presidential nominee in November, survived a July 13 shooting. Both are allies of Orban, a right-wing nationalist who has been in power since 2010. “All these attacks are against anti-war, pro-peace politicians,” Orban said in an interview with state radio station Kossuth. “Pro-war forces are so inciting, nervous, inciting and organized that they are trying to clean the peace-loving forces from the stage, from the center of political life.” The Hungarian prime minister, who undertook a so-called “peacekeeping mission” to Ukraine earlier this month that included a meeting with Trump, said the former president survived the attack because “God has plans for him.” […]
