Opposition in the United Kingdom has a large advantage over Sunak's party, says survey

Britain's opposition Labor Party has increased its lead over Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Conservatives to 30 points, according to a YouGov poll for the Times newspaper.

The poll, which comes ahead of this year's election, put the Labor Party on 48% and the Conservatives, currently in power, on 18%, the worst result for Sunak since he became prime minister 18 months ago, according to the poll. Teams.

The gap between the two parties was the biggest since October 2022, when support for the Conservatives fell in the weeks after the financial collapse caused by Sunak's predecessor Liz Truss's mini-budget.

This is the first poll since last week's local and mayoral elections inflicted major defeats on the Conservatives.

A previous YouGov/Times poll, published on May 2, had Labor with a 26-point lead.

Polls have given Labor a lead of around 20 points over the Conservatives ahead of the election that Sunak has said he hopes to call in the second half of the year.

The Conservatives have been in government, whether in coalition or alone, since 2010, with a mandate largely marked by the vote to leave the European Union and the scandal over their handling of the Covid crisis.

During this period, the country had five different prime ministers.
