At least 60 people have been arrested so far in the mega operation joint operation between the Civil and Military Police of Rio de Janeiro, which has been taking place since Monday (15) in 10 communities in the west zone of the city.
Among those arrested in the mega-operation, seven are minors. This Wednesday (17), Rio’s Secretary of Public Security, Victor César dos Santos, held a press conference to talk about the third day of action.
During the press conference, he announced that the city government had closed a scrapyard that received stolen and robbed products, in addition to containing parts without an invoice.
During the operation, agents also deactivated a clandestine internet center, which operated within the residents’ association in Morro do Jordão, in the Taquara neighborhood.
According to the police, the criminal faction Comando Vermelho (CV) earned around R$80,000 per month for the service.
Since the beginning of the operation, state police have closed down and fined businesses where drug trafficking and militia groups have allegedly infiltrated. Among the irregular establishments are a butcher shop, a bakery and a marble shop.
