Open to dialogue with Russia EU and US but not to the detriment of Ukraine

For the military accumulation of Russia around Ukraine the EU High Representative spoke, Josep Borrell and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, each other for the latest diplomatic commitments on Russia’s efforts to redefine security arrangements in Europe.

“Close coordination between the European Union and the United States on recent developments in Russia and Ukraine continues at the highest level” states the announcement of the European External Action Service as pointed out by the Athens News Agency.

The two men rejected the Russian initiative to rebuild spheres of influence in Europe and underlined their determination to continue intense consultations on this and other issues between USA and the EU – presenting a strong, clear and united transatlantic front.

According to the EEAS, reaffirm support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and stressed the need for Russia to de-escalate and fully implement the Minsk agreements, while considering continued preparations for deterrent measures and a strong international response with enormous consequences for Russia in the event of any further attack on Ukraine.

Finally, they emphasized that the EU and the US remain open to dialogue with Russia, but never to the detriment of freedom, the sovereignty, independence of the members of the transatlantic community and their partners or to the detriment of respect for fundamental values ​​and related international obligations.
