Paul Teal film and television actor best known for his role in the teen drama “One Tree Hill” from the CW, died at age 35 according to a statement from his agent, Susan Tolar Walters.
Teal passed away on Friday after a “courageous battle with cancer,” Walters told CNN this Monday (18).
“His extraordinary talent, along with his gentle spirit, left an indelible mark on everyone who was lucky enough to know him. The loss we feel in our hearts is immeasurable,” she added.
THE Teal’s bride Emilia Torello, also shared the news of his death in an Instagram post on Sunday: “You were taken too soon, in a battle you faced bravely and without giving up. Although a part of me died with you, I promise to fight to find joy in life with the same determination with which you fought to live every day.”
“The world was lucky to have had, if only for a moment, Paul Teal, and I am the luckiest person in it because I got to call him mine. I will love you forever,” she wrote.
Teal was best known for his appearance in the seventh season of the teen hit “One Tree Hill” in 2010. He also had a role in the psychological thriller “Deep Water” (2022), starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.
Bethany Joy Lenz “One Tree Hill” co-star“remembered Teal as “the kind of person who effortlessly lit up any room” in a statement posted to Instagram.
Lenz said he first met Teal in 2006, when they worked together on the musical production of “The Notebook,” in which Teal played protagonist Noah Calhoun. They reunited on the set of “One Tree Hill”“ in 2010.
“With his self-deprecating sense of humor and his willingness to give himself completely to any character, Paul was perfect for the role. He was a joy to work with in any environment and extremely generous,” she wrote.
“He was too young to die. Too young. I’m devastated. Paul, your time here was like a summer romance for all of us who knew you, especially if only for one season. Intense, moving, deeply moving and unforgettable.”
Teal has also starred in several TV series including “Good Behavior” , “Outer Banks” and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond“.
His most recent work includes roles in “Descendants: The Rise of the Red“ and “Lilly”, both released this year.
He will also appear in the Starz thriller series “The Hunting Wives“alongside Durmot Mulroney, Malin Akerman and Brittany Snow, a role he recorded before his death. The premiere is scheduled for next year.
