The range of Acer has expanded with a new mobile computer running Chrome OS. The novelty is called the Chromebook 514, and should not be confused with … the previous Chromebook 514: those models came out a few years ago and were based on Intel Celeron N3350 and N4200 processors, while the latest Chromebook 514 (part number – CB514-H / T) uses a single-chip MediaTek Kompanio 828 platform.

The mobile computer is 16.7 mm thick and weighs 1.3 kg. The hardware platform is cooled using passive elements, so the device works silently, and the autonomy, according to the developers, should be enough for a day of work.

SoC Kompanio 828 has an eight-core processor and a five-core GPU ARM Mali-G57MC5. The maximum amounts of RAM and flash memory are 8 and 128 GB, respectively. Also in the device configuration is a 14-inch IPS Full HD screen (touch in some configurations), an aluminum cover, a backlit keyboard, stereo speakers, two microphones and a Wi-Fi 6 adapter. The new Chromebook 514 will go on sale in the US in December, prices start from the $ 400 mark.
