A Bulgarian national working for the United Nations and who lost his life in March in the Gaza Strip was killed by Israeli tanks’ fire, the Israeli army said today, based on preliminary findings of internal investigation. Sofia announced that “he was officially apologized to Israel” for the death of this Bulgarian national. The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry “has strongly demanded that such tragedies will never be repeated” and the protection of humanitarian workers must “be an absolute priority”. On March 19, the United Nations announced the deaths of a Bulgarian worker in an explosion in a UN office building for Program Support Services (UNOPS) in Deir al -Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip.
