The film “O Auto da Compadecida 2”, which will be directed by Guel Arraes and Flávia Lacerda, won its first official image this Friday (18).
Produced by Conspiração and H2O Films, the film is scheduled to be released in 2024.
The released image reveals the characters João Grilo (played by Matheus Nachtergaele) and Chicó (played by Selton Mello) returning to Taperoá, the city in Paraíba where the story of the first film took place.
In the publication, the producer took the opportunity to officially announce the cast of the film. In addition to Nachtergaele and Mello, the feature will have:
- Taís Araújo as Our Lady;
- Eduardo Sterblitch as Arlindo, a powerful businessman and broadcaster;
- Humberto Martins as Colonel Ernani;
- Fabiula Nascimento as Clarabela;
- Luis Miranda as Antônio do Amor;
- Juliano Cazarré as Omar;
- and Luellem de Castro as Iracema.
It is also worth noting that the sequence also marks the return of actress Virginia Cavendish, in the role of Rosinha, and actor Enrique Diaz, as bandit Joaquim Brejeiro.
Also according to H2O Films, the family of Ariano Suassuna, author of the play that inspired the film “O Auto da Compadecida”, approved the making of the feature.
