Fashionistas will complement their look with masks next New York Fashion Weekadhering to the strict protocols against Covid-19, already implemented for smaller parades.
With the return to in-person parades in September of last year, after the virtual editions of the beginning of the pandemic, organizers are adopting a mix of the “new normal” with in-person and digital presentations.
Designers such as Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera and Christian Siriano will present their latest creations during the event, which takes place between February 11 and 16, according to IMG Fashion, which organizes the fashion week.
Others, such as Badgley Mischka and Tadashi Shoji, will make digital presentations. “It’s the new normal. This season, the use of a mask indoors will be a requirement at all shows, in addition to the vaccination certificate, which will be mandatory”, said Noah Kozlowski, director of relations and development at IMG Fashion.
“Those who are eligible for a booster will be required to prove it. If not, they will have to provide a 48-hour PCR test or an antigen test performed up to six hours earlier.”
As with last season, the guest lists are smaller, with around 200 viewers on average.
Some stylists are absent from the lineup. Tom Ford canceled his show while Thom Brown postponed his to April due to Covid-19.
New York Fashion Week, which kicks off the runway calendar, is known for established brands and new streetwear brands.
