Nurse is investigated for irregular cosmetic procedures; patients were hospitalized

Nurse Marcelane da Silva Espíndola Nunes is investigated by the Civil Police of Goiás (PC-GO) for performing cosmetic procedures irregularly.

At least seven patients reported having problems with their faces after Marcelane’s interventions. The cases occurred in the municipalities of Goiânia and Aparecida de Goiânia.

The nurse did not have professional training to act as a beautician, according to the delegate responsible for the case, Luiza Veneranda.

“During the procedures, it was observed that the professional was not dressed properly and did not wear gloves. The investigated person never showed which product she was using”, reported the delegate.

The victims declared that they suffered serious complications after the aesthetic procedures and were instructed to use drugs that were not effective. “The moment they got in touch with the nurse, she said that the symptoms were normal and insisted that the patients not seek medical help, which aggravated the problem, generating serious cases of infection”, said the delegate. Of the seven patients, five were hospitalized.

In a note, the Regional Nursing Council (Coren) of Goiás stated that it has instituted an ethical-disciplinary process to determine the professional’s conduct.

Sought by the report, Marcelane’s defense said that her client was surprised with a search and seizure order. “The professional never shied away from any investigation or clarification, always making herself available through her defense”.

Also according to the lawyer, the nurse provided all clarifications to the police and is available for any clarifications. “Due to the disproportionate measure, adequate resources are already being taken from the Judiciary”, said Caio Fernandes.
