Nova and the Municipality of Athens join forces for a greener Athens

Nova, the company that brought the internet and pay-TV to Greece and a member of the United Group, the leading telecommunications and media operator in Southeastern Europe, implemented two bioclimatic “pocket parks” in the neighborhoods of Athens, and more specifically in Agios Artemios , also known as Gouva, and in Ano Patisia.

Joining forces with the Municipality of Athens, Nova financed the construction, as well as the maintenance for the first six months, of two pocket parks. With a total of 420 sq.m. green and more than 600 new plants, the pocket parks function as an “oasis” of relaxation in the bustling neighborhoods of the city. In addition, both parks have lighting with photovoltaic panels for the best experience of the visitors, while the park located in Ano Patisia also has a gym.

The Mayor of Athens, Mr. Costas Bakogiannis, said: “Our city is being upgraded by small, but full of substance interventions. I would like to thank Nova warmly, because without her contribution we could not have this ideal result – more free spaces and “oases” of green for all Athenians – in such a short time “.

Mr. Panagiotis Georgiopoulos, CEO of Nova, said: “Offering to those around us is not only an act of responsibility, but also fulfillment for ourselves. We are glad that we were able to offer these carefully designed parks to the citizens of Athens. “These abandoned spaces have been transformed into elegant crafts, giving hope and confidence that together we can change a lot. Nova will continue to look for such worthwhile efforts to offer to those around it.”

Nova remains true to its commitment to a positive impact on the communities in which it operates. As part of the Municipality of Athens’ “Adopt Your City” program, these new pocket parks highlight this commitment.
