The Russian government has approved the rules for granting a deferment from military service for specialists from domestic companies working in the field of information technology. The decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

As the press service notes, we are talking about young people under the age of 27 who have higher education and work in IT companies for at least one year. In addition, the rules apply to specialists with less than one year of experience, but on condition that they graduated from a university a year before their appointment.
To receive a deferment, the company must form a list of IT specialists and send it to the Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media (Mintsifry) no later than May 1, 2022. Then the Ministry of Digital Transformation will send a generalized list to the Ministry of Defense, and it will generate the final lists and send them to the military registration and enlistment offices for registration of a deferment.
The resolution also approved a list of specialties and areas of training that allow you to qualify for a deferment. Among them are mathematics, applied informatics, cartography and geoinformatics, radio engineering, electronics and nanoelectronics, robotics, aircraft building, shipbuilding and others – more than 60 areas in total.
