For example, employees in charge of Activision said sales of Call of Duty’s flagship shooter series are actively declining on both PC and consoles – this is very noticeable in the sales of Call of Duty: Vanguard. Moreover, to the great regret of investors, the bet on the royal battle, which combines the last three parts of the series, also does not bring the expected results.

We are talking about the steadily declining audience engagement in Warzone – the developers note that the audience of the once popular project is gradually decreasing, which, of course, affects the profits from in-app purchases and the battle pass. A similar picture is observed in Blizzard projects, whose financial performance has been declining for several quarters in a row. The reason is probably the same – gamers are simply tired of the company’s relatively old projects, wanting to try something new in the same genre or in a completely different area of ​​​​video games. But the bosses of the company, of course, have a rescue plan.
First, the development of the new part of Call of Duty, which will be the sequel to Modern Warfare in 2019, is in full swing. Studio staff said that the shooter will be the most advanced project in the series, and that there are no problems during development. Apparently, the company decided to use a win-win option, since Modern Warfare 2019 is called the best shooter of all in recent times. Secondly, they didn’t forget about the new Warzone either – the royal battle of the new generation is created absolutely from scratch, they promise grandiose innovations in the gameplay and the absence of bugs that the audience is so used to. The release of the new Call of Duty and Warzone should take place in the fall of 2022.
And, thirdly, Blizzard executives are also ready to improve financial performance – the company assured that in the second quarter of this year the situation will change dramatically. This, apparently, is directly related to the release of Diablo Immortal, which is scheduled for June 2, as well as other flagship projects of the company (like Overwatch 2), scheduled for the summer-autumn of 2022. And the development of the Warcraft mobile video game should also bring some profit.
