Nintendo should reveal details of the Switch 2 console on Wednesday (2), with the market waiting for a new device with updated hardware that maintains the shape and function of the predecessor.
Switch has sold over 150 million units, with hardware updates and franchise games such as “Super Mario” and “The Legend of Zelda” extending its life cycle.
Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal expects Switch 2 to reach the price of between $ 399 (about $ 2,280) and $ 499 (about $ 2,850) and is released between May and June.
“As soon as Switch 2 is placed for sale, we believe the strength of demand will become evident,” Goyal wrote in a customer report.
The switch, which turned the luck of Nintendo after a Wii U console had weak sales, was launched in March 2017 at the price of $ 299.99 (about $ 1,700).
The company will provide details about Switch 2 at the Nintendo Direct event.
Investors are keeping an eye on the game line, which will be critical to leading consumers to buy the new console, and the hardware supply strength after the switch was affected by interruptions.
“Judging by the level of work in progress in the company’s balance sheet, Nintendo is probably aiming for more than 10 (millions) units in the first year,” wrote Minami Munakata, an analyst at Goldman Sachs, in a note.
