SYRIZA MP Nikos Pappas will be confronted with the seat of the Special Court, who will be referred to a trial by a panel of the competent judicial council.
The former minister of SYRIZA will sit on the stool for his manipulations regarding the competition of television licenses, after being accused of the misdemeanor of breach of duty. In fact, the Judicial Council fully accepted the proposal of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Georgia Adeilinis, and together with Nikos Pappas, refers to the same court the businessman Christos Kalogritsa, who according to the latter complained, had participated in the competition for television licenses. of the former minister, in order for the then government to acquire a channel of its own influence.
According to the panel no. 4/2022, the criminal responsibility of both defendants for the organization and manipulation in the competition of television licenses is recognized. It is recalled that the case was revealed after Kalogritsa’s complaints about a “set up” tender for television licenses and about his fictitious agreement with the CCC company.
The case reached the Parliament and the pre-investigation committee decided the investigation of the case by the Justice. However, both in Parliament and in his apology to the investigator, the contractor claimed that in order to take part in the tender and claim a TV license at the urging of Nikos Pappas, he received 3 million euros from the Lebanese business giant CCC to cover the guarantee required by law for one’s participation in the competition.
“I knew that I would become an accused because of what I revealed. I did it to restore my name and reputation,” Christos Kalogritsas had testified.
On the other hand, the former minister Nikos Pappas, denies what has been attributed to him and has defended the legality of the licensing process of the television stations while he has spoken about the instrumentalization of Justice.
Following the referral decision by the Judicial Council, the Parliament will draw lots for the supreme judges who will adjudicate the case and the Special Court is expected to be established at the beginning of the judicial year, next September.
